Our Mission is threefold

We were formed as a walking team, and will continue to be one. We already have the team registered for the Avon two-day walk in May of 2010 and for the Komen 3-Day this October, both in Washington DC. More team members are always welcome, so if you've thought about doing one of these walks, this is a great year to join us.  Funds generated by Save The Coconuts will continue to support the tremendous work being done by both Avon and Komen.

We also will work to generate funds that go directly to institutions doing research on finding a cure for breast cancer, particularly in the area of metastatic breast cancer. Thirty percent of women with breast cancer will advance to this terminal illness, but only a limited amount of research funds focuses on this advanced stage. Finally, we want to keep funds closer to home in the Annapolis area. There are many organizations doing tremendous work to support breast cancer patients working with very limited funds. We are in the process of screening qualified organizations, and a portion of our funds will go to these local organizations.
